This month the Belleville Senators are hosting a Hockey Fights Cancer Night. As proud members of Quinte Region, we are committed to making a positive impact on our community’s well-being. In these challenging times, the Belleville General Hospital Foundation stands as a beacon of hope and healing.

We will be honoring members of the Belleville General Hospital staff by inviting them to enjoy the game in our suite. To support their vital work, we’re are also rallying together to raise funds for the Dr. Douglas A. MacIntosh Cancer Clinic.

More than 12,000 patients received oncology care at Belleville General Hospital last year. If you live in or around the Quinte Region and if you or a loved one have cancer, you will most likely be visiting the Oncology Department here at Belleville General Hospital.

Their team of experts treat cancer patients with compassion and the latest advancement in cancer care. The goal is to increase chances of remission and to extend and improve quality of life for their patients, but they need your support.

Changes to Your Fire Alarm Inspection & Service

As we enter our 50th year, Alarm Systems is moving forward with a sharp focus on our strengths in all life safety monitoring, and commercial & residential security (service and installations).

This will lead to a transition of our Fire Alarm Inspection and service business to our new partner in fire; Drapeau Automatic Sprinkler Corp. (DASC).

Like Alarm Systems, DASC is a family-owned company with a trusted commitment to quality, reliable protection, and life safety services. Together with DASC, Alarm Systems will offer 24-hour fire alarm service throughout Southeastern Ontario.

We have spoken with several of DASC’s current clients to ensure this partnership is the right fit to meet the needs of our customers.

As of May 1st, 2023, we will be collaborating with DASC on the transition of fire service and inspection work. They are fully certified and capable of assisting you with any/all fire alarm work.

Rest assured this transition will not impact Alarm Systems’ ability to monitor fire alarm systems.

All previously scheduled Fire Alarm inspections and/or service will be completed as expected; however, DASC will accommodate new service requests or inspections after 30 days from this notification.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and are working closely with DASC to ensure a smooth transition; however, some customers may experience pricing adjustments during this change.

[Belleville, Ontario]: Alarm Systems is offering free video doorbells for customers who install a new smart home security system or upgrade their existing system. Video doorbells can help homeowners and police combat porch package theft, a trend which is particularly prevalent in the months just before Christmas.

CAMSafe is a community safety initiative that helps police easily locate video footage that may aid police investigations. Home and business security cameras as well as video doorbells are important tools to help identify and prosecute suspects. As a CAMSafe sponsor, Alarm Systems continues to encourage their customers to register devices with the program.

“With more than 400 registered cameras, programs like CAMSafe provide the Belleville Police Service not only with a broad, effective tool for crime fighting, but partnerships in the very neighbourhoods and communities we police and protect,” said Sergeant Jeremy Ashley of the Belleville Police Service and CAMSafe Program Coordinator. “The CAMSafe program can literally save police officers ‘hours of legwork’ during the course of investigations while contributing to the apprehension and prosecution of criminal activity.”

TMA Five Diamond Monitoring Center Certification

The Monitoring Association (TMA) is pleased to announce that Alarm Systems – Belleville, ON has renewed the prestigious “TMA Five Diamond Monitoring Center” designation. This designation is granted annually to monitoring centers that satisfy all of the requirements of the “five points of excellence”:

Commitment to ongoing job-related education and testing by having 100% of its monitoring center operators certified using the TMA online training series on industry best practices.
Commitment to random inspections and quality criteria standards by a nationally recognized testing laboratory such as FM Approvals, Intertek/ETL and UL.
Commitment to raising the industry standards through TMA membership and participation in its activities.
Commitment to reducing false dispatches.
Commitment to the highest levels of customer service.

TMA’s Five Diamond designation means, in particular, that a monitoring company has demonstrated an exceptionally high degree of responsibility to their local community and their customers through the investment of time, money and commitment to quality operator training. Operators serve as the life-saving link between residential or business properties and the police, fire and emergency services in local areas. The TMA Monitoring Center Operator course covers virtually all phases of monitoring center communications with customers, police, fire and emergency services communications centers. In order to achieve the Five Diamond designation, every operator must not only pass the course and recertify every three years, but demonstrate:

Proficiency in alarm confirmation process, which helps reduce false alarms
Proficiency in communications with Public Service Answering Points, such as the Emergency 911 centers
Knowledge of electronic communications equipment, including, cellular, radio and internet communication systems
An understanding of the codes and standards of such organizations as Underwriters Laboratories, Factory Mutual, the National Fire Protection Association and others
Proficiency in the area of emergency preparedness under a wide scenario of possibilities.

There are approximately 2,700 monitoring centers in the United States that communicate and interact with police, fire and emergency services agencies. Of this group, fewer than 200 monitoring centers have achieved the Five Diamond designation, setting these companies apart.
