Personal Emergency Alarms are primarily used for medical emergencies. If you or someone you love is at an increased risk of experiencing a medical event, you may consider a Personal Emergency Alarm.
The process is easy:
Step 1: Wear the device.
Step 2: Push the button in the event of an emergency.
Step 3: Emergency confirmed & emergency response dispatched.
Who might use a Personal Emergency Alarm?
Most of our customers who consider these devices are elderly individuals or their family members who are worried about them. Did you know that 35% of people over the age of 65 experience at least one fall per year? 66% of these falls occur at a residence.
That being said, there are many uses beyond safety for seniors. Another useful application of these devices is for workers working alone, or workers working in dangerous conditions. One of our customers for example, is a care facility. They require their care takers to use an emergency device when working with clients that may have severe health concerns or an aggressive history.
What types of devices are available?
There are a variety of options to choose from when it comes to Personal Emergency Alarms. The simplest solution is to add a wearable panic button to your Home Security System. With this type of set up, as soon as the panic button is pressed your alarm system will be triggered. This will initiate your procedure for this type of alarm at our monitoring station. Once an emergency is confirmed, emergency responders such as Police, Fire or EMS will be dispatched.
Another option is a standalone, in-home system such as the Linear PERS 2400B. This system would function similarly to having a panic button added to your security system, but does not require your home to have a security system to use.
The last option we will talk about in this blog is the Numera Libris. This is the newest Personal Emergency Alarm that we are currently carrying at Alarm Systems. This device is also a standalone item. The Numera Libris has many features that the previous two options do not. This devices includes GPS technology, meaning it can be used outside of your own home, and can be located by the monitoring station. It features fall detection technology, which alerts the monitoring station when a possible fall has occurred so that they can follow up with the user. It uses built in 2-way voice communications, which simplifies confirming emergencies. While we carry this product, this device is currently monitored by a third party provider because of current licensing agreements in Canada.
If you are worried about your safety, a loved one, or your employees, a Personal Emergency Alarm may be the answer. With a variety of solutions, there is sure to be one to suit your needs. Gain undisputed peace of mind by knowing that help is only a button push away!
